About few communities is so
much said and so little known as the
women of Saudi Arabia.
In the absence of open borders and free press,
international media fills the void with a simplistic
narrative of a women opressed, dehumanised and
voiceless.
This author spent four years exploring the country,
interviewing women from desert-dwelling bedouins to high-ranking princesses and just about everyone in between! She found women who were brave, determined, creative, funny, generous and warm; and kind enough to share their stories.
The Queens of the Kingdom project aims lift the curtain on
daily life in Saudi Arabia, as women share their realities,
their frustrations, their achievements and their dreams.
It also hopes to provides a safe platform for women in
the Kingdom to share their thoughts on topics that
matter to them, anonymously and in their
own words.
